OIL AND GAS MONITORING

For fifteen years, Pelagosphera has offered zooplankton know-how and expertise to public and private organisations operating in the oil and gas monitoring sector, both inshore and offshore. In Italy, it represents a unique commercial provider of this specialised expertise. The cooperative is involved in numerous medium- and long-term projects aimed at studying potential anthropogenic impacts through periodic monitoring of mesozooplankton communities (20 µm – 20 cm) along the water column, in the presence of regasification plants and infrastructure of national and international relevance for the import, extraction and processing of hydrocarbons.

Fields of specialisation:

– Holoplankton: high-level specialisation in copepod fauna;
– Meroplankton: high-level specialisation in decapod crustacean larvae;
– Ichthyoplankton: fish larvae and eggs, including taxa of commercial interest

Pelagosphera technicians are able to independently manage every phase of an environmental survey: sample collection, laboratory processing, production of taxon/sample matrices, and statistical analysis of results.
Pelagosphera prepares technical reports and scientific documents for public and private organisations and for the Italian Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security (MASE).
Safety certifications (BOSIET) allow operators to take part in jobs and operations on offshore platforms in national and international waters.
Pelagosphera works in the oil and gas monitoring sector in accordance with all standards required by current national regulations and by the Marine Strategy Framework Directive.
