MULTIDSCIPLINARY FIELD TRIP

Drawing on its consolidated experience, Pelagosphera offers a two- or three-day multidisciplinary field trip in a natural setting and cultural landscape of invaluable importance, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1997.
The setting is the Parco Regionale Naturale di Portovenere and its archipelago, made up of Palmaria, Tino and Tinetto islands, together with the Parco Nazionale delle Cinque Terre, the famous Sentiero Azzurro trail and the evocative setting of theCinque Terre Marine Protected Area.

Why multidisciplinary?
This is a two- or three-day full immersion in nature with a team of young naturalists, marine biologists, entomologists, botanists, geologists and ornithologists.

Breakfast. Transfer to La Spezia railway station. Transfer to Monterosso (about 20 minutes). Trekking along the Cinque Terre Sentiero Azzurro. First stage to Vernazza (about 2 hours). We enter the Mediterranean scrub, with highly varied vegetation including holm oak woods, strawberry tree, lentisk, tree heath, broom and juniper. Landscape and geological observation with striking views of cliffs dropping steeply into the sea. Terraces with vines and olive trees accompany us to the village of Vernazza and its ancient medieval tower. Lunch break (packed lunch prepared by the hotel). Trekking along the Sentiero Azzurro, Vernazza – Corniglia stage ((about 1 hour 30 minutes). Once again, the sentiero azzurro, used in ancient times to travel between the five villages, offers breathtaking views of the coastal environment, with the chance, with a little luck, to spot cetaceans. Stops and field observations are planned along the route, with geological, botanical and entomological insights. From Corniglia, transfer by train to La Spezia (15 minutes). Hotel accommodation. Dinner and overnight stay.
