BENTHOS AND ZOOPLANKTON TAXONOMY
Together with the Department of Life Sciences and Systems Biology (DBIOS) of the University of Turin and the Institute of Marine Sciences in Venice (CNR-ISMAR) Pelagosphera develops shared projects aimed at improving knowledge of Mediterranean marine biodiversity and taxonomy.
Taxonomic research focuses on the description of larval stages of meroplanktonic species and on the identification of potentially invasive alien species during their early developmental stages.
The cooperative actively participates with its technicians in scientific cruises for sample and data collection, such as those conducted by CNR aboard the oceanographic vessel Gaia Blu (BANSIC, BIOTREC, PIONEER).
Pelagosphera also collaborates on projects such as the DiSSCo research infrastructure (Distributed System of Scientific Collections), contributing to making collections held by institutional bodies Findable, Accessible, Interoperable e Reusable (FAIR).
